Wessex Peerless Model II

Wessex Peerless Model II

The Peerless design concept takes its inspiration from the watch designs of the grand masters of horology from bygone era's and combines it with the unique design approach of Wessex.

Dial:

In designing the dial for The Peerless we wanted to achieve real depth to the dial, not just the illusion of depth. Not being happy with the results of applied chapter ring, sub-dial and banners, the result being too generic and not in keeping with our design philosophy, we decided to go for the layered dial that adorns the final product.

The dial is in fact made up of two separate dials, each painstakingly hand-crafted at our Wiltshire workshop. The base dial featuring two beautifully machined guilloché, with the top dial meticulously cut away to form the chapter ring, sub-dial and banner(s), leaving multiple windows to view the beautiful guilloché beneath. The index, roman numerals and banners are engraved and hand painted, before we, again by hand, apply the final brushed finish.

With the Peerless Model II there is a choice of dials:

Basket Weave and Diamond:

Featuring the timeless 'basket weave' to the main dial and our very own and completely unique 'diamond weave' to the seconds sub-dial.

Wave and Spiral:

This version features two classic machined guilloché, the 'wave' emanating from the seconds sub-dial, which in turn incorporates a fantastically executed spiral.

Case:

The Swiss made case for The Model II is precision milled from solid block 316L stainless steel (surgical grade) and polished to a fantastic mirror finish. It features a double domed sapphire crystal with AR coating to the front and a flat sapphire crystal to the rear exhibition window.

Movement:

There is a choice of two movements for the Model II which take the form of the Unitas 6498-1 Élaboré or, for the real horological buff, the same movement but with a very special balance execution!  The modified caliber features a screwed Glucydur balance wheel with 18ct gold screws, Nivarox balance spring and an 18ct gold swan-nech fine adjustment system in addition to the Incabloc shock protection found as standard on the Élaboré. Beating at a stately 18,000 vph or five ticks per second, the movements are factory regulated in three positions with final regulation and testing performed by Wessex to ensure that your watch is accurate to just a very few seconds per day.

The watch is completed with Swiss made blue spade style hands and a handmade italian calf leather strap, again in blue.

Each Peerless watch is assembled, regulated and tested by us at Wessex in our Wiltshire workshop.
